Jacob Hogan – 2019

OFA Fine Arts Scholarship

Jacob Hogan’s journey in music began with the piano at age of eight. In the 5th grade, he began playing the trumpet. He continued to develop his skills and even picked up another instrument (drums). He has participated in band, jazz band, pit orchestra, pep band, marching band, Solo and Ensemble, state honors projects and more.

Jacob explained that “while I am involved in various sports and clubs, I have spent more time doing music than any other activity. It has affected my friendships and my experience in life.”

Through his dedication to his trumpet studies, Jacob has flourished, being selected as principal trumpet player for the Oconomowoc High School Wind Symphony this year. He was awarded a WSMA Exemplary Award at the 2018 Solo and Ensemble State Festival.

Not surprisingly, Jacob works very hard outside his trumpet studies. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honors Society, Math Honors Society and the Tri M National Music Honor Society. He is also the 2018-2019 DECA Vice President. Jacob plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall and major in Trumpet Performance and Engineering.
